Bismillah. Thank you for choosing Barakah. These terms describe the relationship between you and Barakah App when you use Barakah. By using the service, you agree to be bound by them.
In plain words: Barakah helps you put your phone down during salah. We respect your trust, do not sell your data, and ask in return that you use the app honestly, pay for paid features fairly, and respect the work that goes into it.
Agreement
By installing, accessing, or using Barakah (the “service”), you agree to these terms and to our Privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. The service is provided by Barakah App (“we”, “us”, “our”).
The service
Barakah is a quiet companion for salah. It helps you put aside the apps you choose during the five daily prayers — fajr, dhuhr, asr, maghrib, and isha — so you can show up, not scroll.
- You choose which apps to lock and during which prayer windows.
- Prayer windows are calculated using standard astronomical methods for your location.
- We do not read the contents of locked apps or your messages.
- Features and methods may evolve. We will not silently weaken the privacy guarantees of the service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in your jurisdiction) to use Barakah. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the service with the involvement of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms on your behalf.
Your account
Some features require an account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your credentials safe. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@heybarakah.app if you suspect unauthorized access.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the service without our written permission.
- Use the service to harass, deceive, defraud, or harm others.
- Use the service to spread content that mocks or misrepresents Islam or any community.
- Interfere with the integrity or performance of the service or its infrastructure.
- Use automated means (scrapers, bots) to access the service without our written consent.
- Violate any applicable law, including export controls and sanctions.
Subscriptions and payments
Paid plans, including lifetime early access, are billed via our payment processor. Prices are shown in the currency stated at checkout. Applicable taxes are charged where required.
- Lifetime early access is a one-time purchase that grants access to the current app and feature set for the supported lifetime of the product. It is not a perpetual promise of every future feature.
- Subscriptions, where offered, renew automatically until canceled. You can manage renewal in the App Store or Play Store where the subscription was purchased.
- We may change pricing for future purchases; existing lifetime plans are not re-billed.
Refunds
For purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, refunds are handled by those stores under their respective policies. For purchases made directly from us, refund requests within 14 days of purchase will be honored where required by law or where you have not made substantial use of the service. Email hello@heybarakah.app to start a refund request.
Intellectual property
The Barakah name, logo, source code, designs, copy, and content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the service for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these terms.
Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions, or feedback, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use them to improve the service without obligation to you. We will not attribute feedback to you publicly without your permission.
Religious content
Barakah surfaces prayer times and Islamic concepts. We aim for accuracy and respect the traditions and scholarship of the Muslim ummah. However, we do not issue fatwa, and the app is not a substitute for guidance from a qualified scholar.
Prayer time calculations differ by method (ISNA, MWL, Umm al-Qura, Egyptian, Karachi, and others). Times shown are estimates based on your device location and the method you choose; please verify with your local masjid where precision is critical.
App store terms
If you obtained Barakah from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these terms are between you and us — not Apple — and that Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. Equivalent terms apply to the Google Play Store and Google.
Third-party services
Barakah relies on third-party services for hosting, analytics, payments, and notifications. Their use is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We choose them with care but are not responsible for their content or practices.
Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate at all times.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Barakah App and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 50.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, or your infringement of any third-party right.
Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or use the service in a way that risks harm to others or to the service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute resolution — will survive.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. If changes are material, we will give you reasonable notice in-app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable to Barakah App, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Where local consumer-protection law gives you stronger rights, those rights are not diminished by this section.
Disputes
Before filing a formal claim, please contact us at hello@heybarakah.app so we have a chance to resolve the matter directly. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within 60 days, the parties may pursue available remedies in a court of competent jurisdiction or, where applicable, binding arbitration on an individual basis.
Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement. These terms and the privacy policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the service.
- Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right.
- Assignment. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Notices. We may give notice by in-app message or by email.
